Course overview
Are you interested in research and innovation? Do you wish to use your scientific skills for public health? The master’s in Public Health specialised in Methods for Clinical and Epidemiologic Research focuses on the assessment of biomedical innovations.
This two-year programme aims at mastering drug assessment, therapeutic assessment and technological assessment (diagnosis and screening) as well as innovation in treatment organisation. As such, you will be able to work for the community (general population), or with a specific population or with vulnerable patients.
In Year 2, the Methods for Clinical and Epidemiologic Research will allow you to specialise in:
- Identify relevant knowledge to locate a study project in a professional environment
- Determine which data are worth collecting
- Organise data collecting through continuous (information system) or discontinuous (study) methods, and carry out pattern analysis through punctual (study) or periodic analysis (dashboard)

Courses
- Take place
- Year 1: online from October to April
- Year 2: on site in Campus 5 of the University of Caen Normandy from mid-September to December (6 consecutive half-days per week)
- Are completed by compulsory internships an is available for adult education

- Assessment scales / Life quality assessment
- Decision-making support tools for health · Diagnosis tests assessment methods

Internships and placements
The master’s programme includes two compulsory internships, in France or abroad:
- Year 1:
- 6- to 8-week internship in an organisation using quantitative methods for healthcare
- Will be evaluated through a detailed written report and an oral presentation of this report
- Year 2:
- 4- to 6-week internship in research team
- Will be the occasion to write a scientific article, ready for publication, that will be evaluated as a master’s thesis and an oral presentation of this article

- Choose study methods relevant depending on the question, assess feasibility and implement them
