Artificial intelligence is booming in every field. In order to make the most of this new tool, companies are looking for professionals in AI. You wish to acquire the skills necessary to pursue careers in artificial intelligence? The professional bachelor’s degree in Careers in Artificial Intelligence: Tools and Methods is a stepping stone to become intermediate executives in AI!

This one-year work-study programme trains intermediate executives or engineering assistants in the methods used in AI careers.

Course structure

Courses

  • Take place on site in the campus 2, within the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Caen Normandy
  • Amount to 17 weeks of training per year, the other weeks being in apprenticeship

Course units

The professional bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence is made of 6 course units dealing with various tools and methods used in AI. Courses rely both on theory and practice:

  • Programming: to acquire requirements in AI development
  • Software: to master agile project management and software architecture implementation, as well as to analyse visual data and to conceive adaptative and interactive user interface
  • Modelling and optimising: to understand main AI models and algorithms
  • Machine learning: to master AI learning techniques
  • Rollout: to master written and oral professional communications, both in French and in English, as well as ethical, legal and environmental considerations related to AI. You can also attend an optional module on the practices in various applications of artificial intelligence.

You will develop your team work and put these skills and knowledge in the last course unit, Technicity. As such, this course unit is a supervised project, which will be evaluated through a detailed report.

Learning outcome

By the end of this course, you will be able to

  • Develop an expertise in programming in every paradigm (procedural, object-oriented, functional), including in AI libraries used to implement complex solutions and to automatise processes
  • Develop and optimise programmes that can execute AI tasks efficiently, such as data processing, machine learning and predictive AI
  • Identify problems in a AI task and solve it
  • Take part in modelling job issues, such as logical or optimisation problems
  • Take care of technology intelligence regarding AI evolutions and norms
  • Develop and adapt to AI ethical and environmental impacts
  • Implement one or several parts of an AI application according to informatics standards
  • Choose and implement an AI technique (including a large language model adapted to the objective, and run requests according this model)
  • Design a project using AI techniques to meet the needs of all stakeholders and ensuring the quality of the result
  • Design user adaptative and accessible user interfaces to improve the efficiency of the interaction through AI systems
